Movies I Want To See

Spice World
The Spice Girls Movie! I can predict an Oscar already! :-) - Opened January 23, 1998, closed shortly afterwards.. :-)

GODZILLA 98
A new Godzilla movie! I saw the teaser before Starship Troopers and knew I wanted to see this movie! - Memorial Day 1998

Been there, saw these

Alien Resurrection
&
Starship Troopers

We saw Alien Resurrection (Alien 4) on Thanksgiving Day. It was great! I had been waiting for this a long time and thought for sure I'd have to wait until it hit video, but my wife actually suggested we go! Wohoo!

We also saw Starship Troopers about a month ago (just after it opened actually). Lets just say it was excellent! Aliens and Evil Dead share the #1 spot for my favorite movie of all times, with ID4 being next, but now Starship Troopers takes #2, knocking ID4 down one. Misc Straship Trooper links from Yahoo

Event Horizion

[Well, I have to say that I did search the net for a web page to link to, but I could not not find anything. Strange that a movie these days would not have a web page... Hmmm...]
Event Horizion was an interesting movie. The premise was kind of ok. A special ship was built, with a black hole as part of the main engine that will allow the ship to fold space and time. Then the ship disappears. 7 years later, it's back!.
The commericals from the movie say the most terrifying things are not from our past, but from our future. Well, the movie is based in the future, and seems to happen in realtime, sorta, so I don't get the meaning there. The 'evil' is from another dimension, not from the future. At least that is what I got out of it.

GORE ALERT

This movie is full of it. Kinda like a HELLRASIER movie. Some cool effects [strictly from a FX standpoint!] but it sure suprised my wife! Be Warned!
Even though it was an interesting movie, I think the trailers for Alien Reserection and Starship Troopers look more interesting...

Mars Attacks!

I saw Mars Attacks! last night on Pay-Per-View. Funny movie! I liked it because I love campy movies. That's really all I can say about it. Camp. Making fun of Sci-Fi movies throughout time. And boy, did they do a good job!

SCREAM!

The Rules

  1. Don't answer the door.
  2. Don't hide in the closet.
  3. Don't just stand there.
  4. Don't go back in the house.
  5. Don't trip.
  6. Don't answer the phone.
  7. Don't ask, "Who's there?"
  8. Don't have sex.
  9. Don't drink or do drugs.
  10. And never, ever, under any circumstances, SCREAM.

Scream is great!!! I love horror movies and love parodies also and this file is both, rolled into one! Cameos by Lynda Blair (as a TV news reporter) and Henry Winkler (in the uncredited role of Woodsboro High School Principal are really great! This is the first movie to come around in a long time that actually made me JUMP!
My wife thought it was going to be a bunch of clips from various movies, and was very suprised to discover she enjoyed it as much as I did!

Ok, First Wives Club was a pretty good movie. It was my birthday, and it was either this movie or Courage Under Fire, and I didn't really want to see that one. But Goldie Hawn was really cute, Bette Midler was pretty cute and whats-her-name was Ok. The story was funny, the things they did were very unbelievable and it would never happen in real life. But what the hey, disconnect reality and enjoy.

Recently my wife and I went to see John Carpenters Escape From LA. I'm a big fan of the origional Escape from New York and just had to see this one. As with most movies that come out now, if you let your imagination carry you away (and you don't notice the things like what is computer generated and don't try and spot the bad blue screen scenes) you will probably like this movie. Ok, the surfing bit was hokey, and anyone who knows anything about hang gliding knows what they did in the movie can't be done. But the effects were for the most part really good, the acting on Kurt Russell's part was SNAKE and seeing LA as an island was, well, pretty cool.

We watched Independence Day back a few days after it opened. The place was PACKED but we got decent seats. The movie, though, would have been good if we had to sit on broken glass! This is a GREAT movie! This IS the Star Wars of the 90's. I had almost no problems with the movie. I mean, it IS possible that in a matter of a few hours a computer expert could decode an alien operating system and write a virus that would circumvent any security and go in and destroy the aliens mothership. The nuke helped too, I guess. The aliens should have used McAfee Virus Scan.

  • Check out Chris Knight's unofficial ID4 homepage.
  • How about one fans idea of how the Aliens came about.

One of the other movies that we have seen recently that we REALLY liked was Twister with Bill Paxton and Hellen Hunt. That was a movie that got you pumped! Great effects and just jam packed with excitement and danger!

The Arrival
The review I remember about this movie went something like "Ok, picture Charlie Sheen as a scientist. If you can believe that, you will like this movie." It was an Ok movie.
The Craft
Now this was a great movie! Hocus Pocus Alla Kazam! Rent it. Wait, don't rent it if you can't deal with a movie on Witchcraft.
Funny Games - IMDB
This film, from Attitude Films, is a subtitled work of weird-o art. I have to admit, I didn't want to miss any of it, but in the end, it left me stunned. That's the only word for it. I don't know if it is just me, but I get the feeling that Europe is home to many people who have no regard for life, and it shows in this movie. Sure, it's a fictional movie. But there is too much parallel in real-world Europe to think it's ALL fantasy, dark as it is... See it, but be prepared. Oh, NO KIDS!
Dead-Alive [ no official site ] - IMDB
I saw this movies years ago and MAN, I WAS IMPRESSED! Once again, another movie that is NOT for the kids, but funny (and GORY) as all hell! Let's just say the dead ain't dead 'round this house!
